Gas reductions welcome

Ulster Unionist MLA Leslie Cree has welcomed the news from Pheonix Gas that they are to cut consumer prices by 19% from the start of October.

Commenting on the reduction the North Down MLA said; "This reduction will be most welcome by consumers especially at this particularly difficult time. Many families are currently struggling with the economic situation here – buying weekly groceries and paying for household bills seems to have been steadily increasing, so this reduction which could equate to over £100 per annum per customer is most welcome."

"Over the past few years consumers in Northern Ireland have seen unprecedented increases in fuel prices. This along with the recession has had a huge impact on levels of fuel poverty across the Province. This reduction by Pheonix Gas is a step in the right direction and will be welcomed particularly amongst hard pushed families around Northern Ireland."
