No action by criminals should interfere with peace and stability - Cree

North Down Ulster Unionist politician Leslie Cree speaking after a special meeting of the Policing Board with the Chief Constable has welcomed the unity shown by the Policing Board following the tragic events of recent days.

The Policing Board member stated "My thoughts and sympathies are first and foremost with the families and loved ones of those injured and killed in the recent attacks. Throughout the entire community in Northern Ireland there is a deep sense of shock and utter condemnation for these murders.

"These fatal attacks have been an unwelcome reminder of our troubled past that we all wish to leave behind. I am encouraged that all parties on the Board are resolute that no action by criminals should interfere with the peace and stability that we now enjoy.

"The police make a valuable contribution to making Northern Ireland a safer place to live and work and there is no doubt that they have thwarted other attempts to murder and maim. I commend the work of our police officers, who strive every day to serve our community by protecting the people of Northern Ireland from crime and terror.

"We must give the police all the support and information they need to find these criminals. It is only with the complete support of the community that we can achieve this and I would appeal to anyone who can help the police in any way with their enquiries to come forward. There is no place in our society for these murderers. We must eradicate them from society and remain united in working for peace and prosperity for everyone in Northern Ireland.
