Health
Bangor and Ulster Hospitals
I am proud of the fact that Ulster Unionists brought the National Health Service to Northern Ireland and I strongly believe in the Service providing care and treatment free for all at the point of use.
However the Service is top-heavy with bureaucracy that greatly dilutes the cash available to the frontline services.
The National Health Service in Northern Ireland needs more investment and a major streamlining of its administrative structure.
We now have a useful local hospital and significant improvements to the Ulster Hospital at Dundonald.
But more needs to be done to put patients first: -
- MORE NURSES, LESS BUREAUCRACY
An NHS that makes the most of your tax money
- CLINICAL PRIORITIES, NOT BUREAUCRATIC TARGETS
Put doctors and nurses back in charge of our hospitals
- INVESTMENT FOR 21ST CENTURY HEALTH SERVICES
An ambitious programme of new investment in our NHS.
- A STRATEGY FOR HEALTH PROMOTION & DISEASE PREVENTION
Freeing up NHS resources and improving our quality of life
- BETTER MANAGEMENT OF CHRONIC CONDITIONS
Strategy and resources to help patients manage their condition
